This is my wheel thrown double walled project that I use Vashon White clay. one new skill that I used was that I used the hole punch to make the holes more rounded than just cutting them out myself. By carving the lines in the project and glazing them a flashy color, it emphasizes the overall shape of the cut out circles around the project. With keeping the glazing simple, it gives a nice calming feeling when looking at it. |

This is my set of three similar mugs. I used seamix, under glaze paint and under glaze water color. A new skill that I used was successfully putting on a handle without it cracking or breaking off. The way that I glazed the butterfly wings, it shows off the form of the whole entire project. With the different colors that I used shows the softness and calming feeling of nature. The way that the wings wrap around the mugs, is emphasizes the shape of the project.
These are my wheel thrown plates, I made them with the vashon white clay. I again, experimented with the watercolor under glaze. A skill that I revisited was how to make a plate and also how to blend the two different shades of blue. They way that I blew the watercolors kind of showed off the shape of the plate with the way that the drops go around the border of the plate. With that, it really emphasizes the the overall shape and mood, the mood which is kind of calming, and relaxing feel. To me, these will not be used as a dinner plate, but more of a decorative piece to give more of a nice aura to a room.
This is my Tall Project that I threw on the wheel, with seamix. It is about the length of my hand and the opening is about the size of my palm. The glazes I used were the dark scrape (I think) and the teal; to get the geometric design I used some masking tape and glazed the negative space in between the tape. I then used a paint brush and got the glazes some what watery in a separate container and just ran the glaze along the lip of the project letting the glaze drip. I have never used this glazing technique before, and after watching a video on youtube I decided to try it and I think it turned out pretty well. An art element that is present within this piece is color. I took advantage of the different colored glazes and layered the darker layer over the lighter layer to show off unity of the two glazes. |
