This short of a week was pretty much an experimental week for me. On Wednesday I watched a few YouTube videos on how to make a double walled bowl, it's pretty simple it's just I have to work on closing the two walls together. On Thursday I was successful and made two doubled walled bowls, the base is a little thin though. On Friday (today) I had to throw out one of my doubled walled bowls, it didn't turn out right and it was very uneven. I then started looking through the magazines, and decided to look at the cookie cutters and found a small heart cutter and put the imprints on the outer wall to carve once I get back from break.
Wednesday and Thursday there was no school due to flooding and what not, so that was a good sleep in date. On Friday when we got back to school, I footed my lidded project which was just wet enough to foot, I did have to use a wet sponge to get it a little wet so I don't mess up, but it made it on the bisque shelf so that's good :). On Monday I unloaded the bisque kiln. On Monday and Tuesday, I've been taking the time and glazing the projects that are due soon and making sure they look amazing! That's it for this week, nothing else really.
This week it looks like I didn't do a lot but a lot of it was actually attempting to make a doubled walled project which I was actually really successful in making! Here the break down of the week;
Thursday, December 3rd- I finished cutting the circles out in my doubled walled project and added a few carved designs to make sure it isn't boring as well as attempted to throw a quick project but it didn't work out as well. Friday, December 4th- I put my doubled walled project on the cart to bisque and added some finishing touches as well as glazed. Monday, December 7th- I made a wheel altered bowl as my extra project. Tuesday, December 8th- I made my lidded project and helped out the sub, as well as helped a student foot. :) Feel Better Mrs. H! This week I have been playing around more with the double sided project and I successfully have made it! Today during class I cut out some circles and now I am planning on carving some designs around it as well. I did make a lidded project but when I got back from Thanksgiving Break I must have not sealed the bag that tight because my project was too hard to foot, so I am hopefully going to finish my double sided at lunch and make my lidded as well as my extra credit project for this semester then I will be all set! Yesterday (Tuesday) I was not in class because the roads were too icy so that caused me to be late and only was in class for cleaning. I will post a picture of my double sided once it comes out of the bisque kiln.
This week I really haven't been focusing on my working blog and more on just making the actual work. This past couple of weeks I made my hand and wheel, lidded, helped Alex (the girl) started glazing some other projects as well as attempted my double walled project.
For the double wall project I looked up a video on YouTube in hope to make it a bit more easier for me to understand how to make it successfully. I watched this video and it helped a lot. (It is very early 2008 it's great). Franken pot!!! I was put into a lovely little group with Alex and Duncan and we have tried our hardest to get this thing put together and it turned out darn good!! The top 3 pictures are what I took today (11/9) when I'm about to put it on the shelf. The bottom 3 are when we were making our little sections, I got the middle, Duncan did the base and Alex did the top!
This week I've been pretty busy, I've been pretty busy. I've been helping the newbies on the wheels as well as finished my set of 8 and making the pretty bomb pitcher above for my great grandma.
This week has been pretty crazy once again. I had helped a few people on the wheel giving them pointers on how to center correctly and as well as how to foot. I thought they all did well! I also myself made 2 bowls, my wheeled altered project and another plate since my other one that I had made got stolen?? (stupid people). I also glazed 4 projects for that set of 8 that I am working on to replace my set of three. I also spent a day this week helping H-Dog (Mrs. Hiedman) out by making a glaze and unloading kilns.
This week has been a really busy week for me in ceramics hence the fact that I am only uploading one day. I had finished glazing my plate that I had made and made a total of 6 bowls that I am using for my set of 7 (not 3 because that is too boring). I glazed 3 of the bowls and put the other 4 on the bisque cart. I also have helped a few of the newbies on the wheel giving them tips on how to center and pull their walls up.
This week has been a busy week for me, I have made two plates and two bowls (one of which is pretty big) as well as glazed about 4 extra projects that I have made and I am currently glazing one of my plates that came out too.
